Motifs An Introduction to French Book+ Access Card Kimberly Jansma Margaret Ann Kassen Books

I very much prefer actual textbooks over ebooks, so the hard copy of this book is great. This has been very helpful in my classroom as well as it helps with homework. It makes looking things up while doing the online homework much easier, as you can just turn to the page in the book while your homework is still pulled up, instead of having to exit your homework to go look in the book. I also like to do the exercises in writing, as it seems to help me retain the information better. The card alone costed about fifteen dollars less than this, and other options to buy this book w/out the card was around fifty-seventy dollars, so it was definitely worth it to get them together.

Motifs An Introduction to French Book+ Access Card Kimberly Jansma Margaret Ann Kassen Books Reviews

Had to purchase this for one of my classes and it's a great book. Although, there are few minor errors (e.g. spelling and sentence fragments), but overall it's great when trying to learn and understand the french language.
I bought this hardcover because my professor requests a hard copy. TBH, I have bought digital version before she asked because I know hard copy would be very expensive. However, this book really surprised me, it's complete and well presented, but it is also cheap! I am glad that I chose this seller!
I am very disappointed in this book which I was under the impression would come with the access code for the online lab that the class uses. The code is supposed to come with this textbook if bought brand new, but did not.
The code is $113, just buy a used book for cheap and get the code online, it will save money instead of buying a $178 new book with the access code.
COMES WITH BOOK KEY!
Many of the books do not come with the access key for the online component but this bundle does! And compare to the others the price is great. The online access key alone is $145 and does not come with the textbook itself. Great deal!
Didn't come with an access code, the actual book is gonna cost you 200 dollars because you have to have the access code. So anything on here that is cheap will probably not come with a code.
Don't really like the style of introducing new French words and phrases with minimal translations. They want you to pick up the meaning based on the pictures that accompany the lists of new words, rather than explicitly say "robe = dress." This works for about half the words, but the other half I don't understand the nuance between, for example, the French words for a man's shirt versus a woman's shirt. If you show me two pictures of shirts, and call them different things, I need to know why explicitly, not just the two different pictures.

Probably a good book if you're taking a class with a native professor who can explain these things to you, but not a good book at all for learning on your own.
I hate this $*#@(^% book. Like previous reviewers have stated, it jumps around all over the place. For example, for my homework tonight I have to go to pg 92, then 120-121, then back to 92-93, then 94, then 95 and then back to 120-121, back to 95, then 102, then 120-121, then 111-112, and then 112-113. Plus a couple of PDFs. That is paraphrasing how my instructor wrote her instructions, but that's basically what she wrote. This is on a weekly basis. Plus, it's almost entirely in French! Yes, it's for French class, but I don't speak *any* French! I try to read over it and make out what I can but I feel like I'm getting motion sickness. That might not make sense, but I get migraines and I think that's why it's so overwhelming.

There's no rhyme or reason to the book. The instructor sent us a link to the French section of About dot com to learn the alphabet. Seriously. ??? It would be so much better if it was bilingual, if everything that was written in French was in English as well so we could get a grasp of what's going on as we're learning, at least the first half anyway. Other people might not have an issue with the book, but I think it is terrible and can't understand how anyone would actively choose to use it or how it got printed in the first place.
